Visions Financial Services (VFS) was started in 2004 to provide professional financial management and consulting services to the First Nation and aboriginal community. Michael Bonshor, CMA is a member of the Tsawataineuk First Nation of Kingcome Inlet, BC is its owner.

VFS is proud to bring a unique blend of professional business and financial management skills and experience along with a sound understanding of the dynamics and environment of First Nations communities and organizations.

Overview of Project Experience

Kwantlen First Nation- Developed Comprehensive Community Plan, engaging community and community leadership to map out 3-5 year objectives in various areas. Developed economic development strategy, including commercial and residential development and forestry activity.
N'Quatqua First Nation - Preparing comprehensive economic development strategy. Includes regional economic research, community engagement and business plan development.
Ktunaxa/Kinbasket Tribal Council - Prepared a comprehensive forestry based business plan for use with their community forest.
Ahousaht First Nation - Written comprehensive report for community to provide a detailed background on the mining industry in general as well as the issues of primary importance to the community.
Kwakiutl Territorial Fisheries Commission (KTFC) - Worked with the KTFC to develop a long-term economic development strategy to diversify its revenue base and create employment and training opportunities
Katzie First Nation-led a project to review and analyze the regional economy in the Katzie Traditional Territory and provided business plan(s) and economic development strategy.
Worked with the Namgis First Nation to develop an economic development structure and strategy
Ehattesaht First Nation-Facilitated a community session on consensus building

Public Sector/First Nations Experience

Through Visions First Nations Planning Group, worked with the BC Offshore Oil & Gas team to assist in the development of an First Nation engagement strategy.
Developed Report for the 2010 Aboriginal Economic Development Inter-departmental Working Group - 2010 Aboriginal Economic and Business Development Opportunities-Identification Study
For the 2010 Bid Corporation prepared overview and analysis of economic development opportunities for Squamish and Lil'wat First Nations, which will arise from development of Olympic Alpine Centre.

Private Sector/First Nations Experience

Worked with Badger Power, a newly formed alternative energy company, to engage the First Nation community in BC. Facilitated the development of a strategic alliance.
Worked with the UFCW Union to facilitate their engagement with the aboriginal community in the lower mainland
For the 2010 Bid Corporation prepared overview and analysis of economic development opportunities for Squamish and Lil'wat First Nations, which will arise from development of Olympic Alpine Centre.

Project Management Experience

Worked with the Tsawataineuk, Kwicksutaineuk and Gwawaenuk First Nations to develop and lead their Aboriginal Fishing Strategy funded Fisheries projects.
